Infrared Sauna or Red Light Therapy: Which Should Your First Visit Be?
If you have looked at SOLiX and thought, "I would like to try it, but which one?", you are not alone. It is one of the questions we hear most before a first visit.
The reassuring part: there is no wrong answer. Here is a plain, side-by-side look to help you choose. And if you are new to SOLiX, your first session is on us.
The short version
Infrared sauna
What it is: a private, full-spectrum infrared sauna room that warms your body with radiant heat.
Session length: 20, 30 or 40 minutes. 30 is the most popular.
How it feels: warm, and more noticeable as the session goes on. You will sweat.
What we provide: a private room and towels.
A good first pick if you want quiet, unhurried time.
Red light therapy
What it is: a whole-body LED bed that uses red and near-infrared light.
Session length: about 10 to 13 minutes.
How it feels: you lie down in the light. No UV, and it is not tanning.
What we provide: a private room and eye protection.
A good first pick if your window is short.
What infrared sauna is like
Infrared sauna uses radiant heat to warm your body, and it typically runs at a lower air temperature than a traditional sauna. You are still in a heated room, and the warmth builds as your session goes on. (Cleveland Clinic)
At SOLiX, each session is in a private room with towels provided. You do not need to stay for the full time you booked. On a first visit, start briefly, follow the team's guidance, and step out whenever you like. Our first-visit guide covers the details: Your First Infrared Sauna Session.
What red light therapy is like
Red light therapy uses low-level red and near-infrared light. Unlike the ultraviolet light from the sun or tanning beds, it does not use UV light. (Cleveland Clinic)
At SOLiX, you lie down on a whole-body LED bed in a private room for about 10 to 13 minutes, and eye protection is provided. Research on red light therapy is still developing: researchers describe early results as promising and say larger, high-quality studies are needed. (Cleveland Clinic) So we describe the experience rather than promise a result.
How to choose
Choose infrared sauna if the time you want is warm, quiet and unhurried, and you have room for a 30-minute session plus a little time to cool down.
Choose red light therapy if your window is short, or you would rather not sweat before your next stop.
Still unsure? Tell us it is your first visit. We will walk you through both at check-in and help you pick. Many guests later make room for both.
Before either session
Drink water, skip alcohol beforehand, and let the team know right away if you feel dizzy, nauseated or unwell. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or take medication that affects how you respond to heat or light, talk with your clinician first and check the studio's participation requirements.
This is a general introduction to two wellness experiences, not a personalized medical recommendation.
